About Onumba

Who we are Onumba.com is a media company in central Ohio that is emerging as one of the finest local news sources in the region since it was established in 2003.

Onumba in Igbo language of Nigeria in West Africa means the ‘voice of the people’ or ‘the voice of the nation.’

Our mission is to educate, inform and empower Black people through news reporting and community activism.  We do this by constantly checking the pulse of Central Ohio region to diagnose the social, political and economic issues of the community.  We cover the events in the community, offering brilliant news reporting and penetrating analysis of the issues involved.

And then, it’s all yours to masticate.

Published by Onumba Communications, LLC, and owned by Onumba Media Group (OMG), the website is very popular and attracts a growing bevy of loyal readership, including politicians, business leaders, community leaders and residents, largely from the African-American and immigrant communities.

Onumba.com is planning to establish a presence in Nigeria.  It is currently affiliated with the Call & Post, the largest Black Newspaper in Ohio owned by the legendary boxing promoter Don King, and Cleveland.com.

Nigerian-born, U.S. educated journalist Ike Mgbatogu is the chief writer and analyst for Onumba.com.  As the only reporter covering Central Ohio for Call & Post, Cleveland.com and Onumba.com, he has emerged as an authority in Black media focusing on the politics and issues facing the community.

Mgbatogu has interviewed U.S. President Barack Obama, Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Black Enterprises Publisher Earl G. Graves, Sr. and many others.  He covered the 2009 visit of Somali President Sheik Sharif Ahmed to Columbus and the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, receiving a community award for his role in the relief mission.

Mgbatogu has a Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Political Science (with honors), and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, both from The Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.
