Onumba.com,USA ——- Given the surge of kidnappings clobbering a jittery country, Nigerian citizens have been urged to fight back against kidnappers, yet such overt confrontation frequently ends in fatal retaliation.
You must resist or surrender, but neither path saves you.
Most regrettably, the Tinubu government isn’t doing much to save you, either.
All of that has converged to play into this grim saga in a country being steered to the cliff of abysm by a Tinubu led gaggle of clowns, morons, kleptomaniacs and buffoons ——– in short ——- a melting pot of bumbling fools.
The only casualty in this macabre incident was a soldier who found himself facing the sword of Damocles, yet gathered sufficient courage to fight back in a battle which ended up taking his life.
On July 27, heavily armed gunmen attempted to abduct military intelligence officer Colonel Abdussalam A. Ude from his home at Kurudu district of Abuja but ended up shooting and killing him at close range after he fought back.
Col. Ude, a native of Enugu state, was on track for a promotion to the rank of Brigadier General next year.
The assailants also targeted his wife, driver and security guard, but they survived with minor injuries before being rushed to the hospital where they are receiving treatments.
All of which prompts the question.
What kind of country is this? What’s really going in this Gehena called Nigeria?
Worry about the economy, joblessness and insecurity grow louder daily, yet no sense of urgency is detected on the radar for this administration.
Has Nigeria utterly collapsed under the weight of a triple yoke of inept leadership, structural rot and corrupt functionaries ——- only that folks are just too slow to recognize it? That is, are Nigerians sleepwalking through a tinderbox, a state failure —— dressing up systemic collapse as routine growing pains?
These are pointedly terrifying questions, yet they raise toweringly valid concerns considering the onslaught of abductions traumatizing totally vulnerable citizens in the face of a government often responding with complete silence at worst or lackadaisical effort at best.
Where the heck is the sense of urgency, President Tinubu? True, Nigerians have moved past the stone cold truth that you flat-out stole the last election, but for heavens sake, do something to stem the tide of these depressingly painful killings around the country. That’s your job.
But while Nigerians hope for Aso Rock to improve security in the country (please don’t hold your breathe), the dark reality now is that the walls of people’s homes can no longer protect them from being dragged into the night by marauding kidnappers.
With the situation in the country this bad, this dangerous, this depressing and this damning, what measure of optimism is left for Nigerian hoi polloi given the smorgasbord of incompetence, a rolling calamity characterizing this godawful Tinubu leadership from hell? Nigerians are witnessing the malignant failure of a lazy and feckless government that has betrayed them and no longer able to safeguard their lives and properties?
It is a monumental shame.
