Onumba.com,USA ——- An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth are universal idioms that parallel Lex talionis.

Or better yet, revenge is a dish better served cold.

Rep. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi completely understands all of that.  And now he is urging the government to put that to use in the war on banditory.  For the Plateau State lawmaker, this very strategy, this masterpiece, this remedy, is Nigeria’s ultimate path forward to counter its pervasive security conundrum.

It is painfully and abundantly obvious that the Tinubu administration has completely failed to get a grip on the deepening crisis of insecurity in the country. Something else has to replace these flopped strategies.

And Rep. Gagdi has the answer ——- in his own words.

“He who kills should be killed,” he forcefully, emotionally and eloquently told his colleagues during a debate on insecurity in the House of Representatives.

Rep. Gagdi elaborated:

“If you kill by coming to an innocent citizen’s house, Nigerians, kidnap them, taking them to the bush, putting them through terrible torture before taking their life — Mr. Speaker [that person] you don’t deserve one second of survival.”

Right after Gagdi spoke, another member asked, “What do you want the government to do?”

“Kill them, “replied Rep Gagdi.

A downpour of “sit down,” ‘no,” “sit down,” “no,” and all sorts of verbal rebuke followed as dissenting members unleashed pillory at him for advocating that capital punishment be meted out to callous murderers of innocent Nigerians.

Obviously, a lot of members weren’t on board, but such a foolish, thoughtless response is honestly deflating ——- mind-bogglingly misguided.

But be that as it may, I completely share Rep. Gagdi’s catch and kill prescription.

The lawmaker firmly believes, and I do too, that fatally striking back at these cold-blooded bastards is the ultimate chance for Nigeria to dismantle the cycle of its long-standing chronic insecurity.

But there is something else in the equation. Accounting for the risk of recidivism, what about the rehabilitation and social reentry of these murderers back into the society?

That’s a load of crap. I don’t believe in it.

If you kill, and found guilty of it, “you deserve to be killed,” summarily. Period. Full stop. End of story.

No pussyfooting around.

Rep Gagdi ——- an APC member, has repeatedly called on the federal government to dismantle all government rehabilitation programs ——– arguing that bandits, insurgents, kidnappers and killers of innocent Nigerian citizens must not be rewarded in any way, shape or form.
