Onumba.com,USA ——— President Trump doesn’t want Somali immigrants in the United States. He is vocal and emphatic about it, even stating so in a December 2025 cabinet meeting.
Often, the president focuses his vitriolic rhetoric targeting the Somali population during public speeches.
But then again, he loves to bring up his profound disdain for Somali immigrants everywhere he goes.
Even though this clearly violates the equal protection rights of Somali citizens ——– some of whom serve in the U.S. military deployed abroad ——- it appears the president has no intention of relenting.
So —— naturally, he deems it OK to target the highest ranking Somali in government, which is really shaking up the whole community.
The highest ranking Somali immigrant is Rep. Ilhan Omar ——– a Somali-born immigrant who rose to become a member of Congress representing the 5th congressional district in Minnesota. She represents her community with intrinsic pride and forcefully pushes back against Trump’s mean-spirited attacks.
However, Monday morning brought a living nightmare for Omar and her community.
Rep. Omar’s Washington D.C. home was raided by federal agents from the Homeland Security Department. Why? The government is examining issues involving her immigration paperwork.
“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
The investigation was “criminal” in nature, noted the official.
The inquiry is looking into whether there’s any evidence to back government claim that Omar married her cousin or brother to gain her American citizenship.
Reportedly, Omar’s immigration paperwork was completed by her deceased father when she was a child. Although we should avoid rushing to any conclusion, as the investigation remains open, but it is really tough to wrap your head around how a child could get married.
Hopefully, the investigation will offer more clarity.
But this accusation has dogged Omar ever since she gained national prominence as a member of the “Squad” —— a liberal-progressive cabal of Trump detractors including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Ayanna Pressley (MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI). These are the founding members, though the group has expanded to seven.
Rep. Omar has responded to the raid, lambasting President Trump for recklessly targeting her and the Somali community.
“I’m OK,” she wrote on X.
“For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns,” she said. “This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.”
“I will not be silenced,” she vowed.
President Trump has maintained a relentless political and rhetorical campaign against Omar since taking office, calling Somali immigrants “garbage” and “leeches” ——– frequently spewing hateful and toxic remarks calling for them to go back to their “filthy” homeland.
“The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali immigrants. There’s violence, murder, and mayhem all over the state. The people of Minnesota must fight back,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
In Pennsylvania, and other stops, Trump is known for characterizing the Somali community as “dirty, disgusting and ridden with crime” ——- often wrapping all of that up into a combo of reasons for Rep. Omar and members of the Somali community to go back to their homeland.
“We don’t want them in our country.”
According to the Census Bureau’s annual American survey, an estimated 260,000 people of Somali descent were living in the United States in 2024. The largest Somali population lives in Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
Other cities and metro areas boasting a sizable Somali population are Columbus-Ohio, Seattle/Tukwila, Atlanta/Clarkson, Portland-Maine and San Diego.
