Onumba.com,USA ——- The dictates of party politics would force Alex Otti’s rivals to try to deny him a second term as governor.

But that would be a colossal waste of time. Even that is an epic understatement. All signs leave zero doubt that the governor’s re-election in 2027 would be a shoo-in.

The wave of support Gov. Otti is getting from Abians is simply astronomical ——- unprecedented. People are backing him overwhelmingly, often emotionally, that a contest would be just a formality —— utterly pointless.

In short, it would be easier for a raccoon to pass through the eye of a needle than for any rival to unseat Gov. Otti. Heck, it won’t even be close.

But why are Abians agog about their governor?

Simple. The governor has been a formidable force for public good ——- a staggeringly visionary, transformative and dynamic leader who has completely changed the face of Abia state, from decay and squalor to shine and prosperity ——— all of that achieved in barely one term.

Through bold policy changes, the governor breathed new life into a once moribund state, turning decades of deep decline into a modern economic success story. His legendary accomplishments have redefined public service, cementing his administration as the benchmark for ethical and effective governance.

In short, Gov. Otti’s administration has become synonymous with good governance ——- rooted on solving problems affecting people, transparency and a dogged determination to ensure the foundation of his government was a departure from the lame-duck, feckless past.

Otti stormed into office and wasted no time attacking decades of rot, setting the stage for a dynamic leadership that has scored remarkable accomplishments in the area of infrastructure, education, healthcare, water for the masses, economic development, social welfare, agriculture and in other sectors.

No need to rehash Otti’s achievements to a granular detail as a plethora of news outlets have done a superb job highlighting his remarkable success story. But one thing is worth underscoring.  For Abians, these accomplishments are not just cleverly crafted words on the pages of newspapers or TV screens, but real changes they can see, feel and point to, daily ———- changes they pleasingly testify have significantly improved the quality of their lives.

Gov.  Otti’s success story highlights the fact that everything about good governance rises and falls on leadership. What a difference one good leader can make! Gov. Otti has proved that good governance is not a mountain to climb, but a choice to make, either to genuinely serve the people and be loved by them or disgracefully betray their trust and be loathed by them.

The history of Abia state is littered with pathetic failures who served as governors.  From all indications, a trifecta of previous governors —— Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu, sadly chose to betray the trust of their fellow Abians and are now  watching with their mouth open, stunned as Gov. Otti cleans up the mountain of mess they left behind —– and doing a fantastic job at it, too.

No wonder the people of Abia ignore these feckless past governors and give all their praises to Gov. Otti, who truly deserves every bit of the paean.
